I seek women that are doing the work that I'm interested in doing and women who are working in fields off the beaten path.

28:23
I seek to work with women who have paved the trail of where I’m working currently and who are willing to teach me what they have learned. From there, I am able to gain confidence and also feel good creating something new.

29:01
well said!

29:05
I agree with Guilene on the transferrable skills point.

33:30
Can you talk about moving across sectors? 2 yr to 4 yr? Public to private? etc.

41:40
lol

41:45
“not to put too fine a point on it” haha

42:03
Opportunity to build your skillset: https://inacenetwork.org/

42:22
So true Guilene! I use a TEDTalk in one of my classes with that same topic- Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Heres the link if you're interested: https://www.ted.com/talks/luvvie_ajayi_jones_get_comfortable_with_being_uncomfortable?language=en

51:43
Love "fact" not "brag." That is so true!

52:18
i do love to make bragging an “us” thing

52:27
Any Ball State individuals who want a "fact" ally, let me know!

52:59
Love that, Penny and Paaige!

53:09
I tell students who struggle with sharing "achievements" to instead share "contributions" since it can feel more "we" focused than "me" even if the message is the same.

53:13
I may take you up on that, Paaige.

53:30
Thank you, Paaige! <3

58:50
I would like to share a book that supports a shift in perception. What happens if we shift from "have" imposter syndrome which focuses on how we perceive self to "presumed incompetent" which focuses upon how others define us. The book specifically looks at women of color in higher education. Presumed IncompetentThe Intersections of Race and Class for Women in Academia https://upcolorado.com/utah-state-university-press/item/2338-presumed-incompetent (Honest disclosure: I still wonder if I know what I am doing some of the time.)

01:00:22
Another way we can be "fact" allies!

01:00:45
Thank you so much for sharing, Paaige.

01:01:02
Good advice

01:01:03
That is awesome Catherine, thank you!

01:01:38
That is so insightful!

01:01:40
I find it useful to interrogate my own ignorance, but with the understanding that I already know things now that I didn’t know before. Ignorance is inevitable, but learning is possible! Also, my ‘incompetence’ may just be latent competence!!

01:01:48
Thank you for sharing the resource and your vulnerability, Paaige!

01:07:23
Thank you all for sharing what you did. I found the session most informational.
